Overview

The Forest Museum, located at Chatham Saw Mill in Port Blair, is one of the most unique museums of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Managed by the Forest Department, the museum highlights the rich forest wealth, flora, and biodiversity of the islands. It showcases how wood and forest resources have played an important role in the culture and economy of the region.

    By Air: Land at Veer Savarkar International Airport, Port Blair (the only airport in the Andamans). From the airport, the museum is about 11 km away, reachable by road.| By Road: Taxis, auto-rickshaws, and two-wheelers (rentals) are easily available from Port Blair city center.| Government & private buses also connect Chatham Island with the main city.| By Sea (Local Ferry): Small ferries operate between Chatham Island, Bamboo Flat, and Phoenix Bay, offering a short scenic ride.| Travel time from Port Blair city center to the museum is around 20–25 minutes by road.
